Plant a Million Corals Foundation (PAMCF) believes that coral restoration technology should be easily accessible to practitioners who what to make a difference within their own community. One of the barriers to this can be a lack of infrastructure.

PAMCF has designed and deployed Coral Restoration Units (CRUs) which are transportable nurseries “in a box”. Each shipping container is designed and customized for the receiving organization. All system needs are retrofitted into the design of the shipping container. The receiving organization will help coordinate delivery and will haave everything needed for a land-based nursery operation except for live tissue. PAMCF conducts a training or workshop with on site staff and assist in the set up. Any operation issues and troubleshooting assistance will be available to the receiving organization as support from PAMCF.

To date, CRUs have been designed and deployed for multiple partners: The Coral Gardeners in Thailand, Soneva Fushii in the Maldives, Voyacy Ventures in Jordan, and The Coral Nursery of Puerto Rico in Puerto Rico. Each program is unique in its design and goals, and reaches new communities.
